There are a number of airports you can fly into when coming to San Juan Capistrano. Here is a list of all of them and the distance of the airport for SJC.
LAX: Los Angeles International Airport
Distance: 59 miles
Pro: You'll most likely be able to get a direct flight.
Con: The airport is enormous (i.e. you'll have to wait a while for your bag). If you fly into LA during rush hour (8-10am or 4-7pm) you'll hit a great deal of traffic on the way to SJC.
SNA: John Wayne Airport
Distance: 21 miles
Pro: The airport is small, so you are in and out fast. Also, your drive time will be much shorter to SJC.
Con: You probably will not be able to get a direct flight.
LGB: Long Beach Airport
Distance: 39 miles
We have never flown into this airport, so we don't have much direct knowledge of it.
SAN: San Diego Airport
Distance: 66 miles
Pro: San Diego is beautiful and you could spend a little time there upon arriving before driving to SJC.
Con: It's the furthest away of all of the airports.
There are tons of great transportation options from the airport. You can:
A: Rent a car. This is a great option because it will allow you to really see Southern California. Should you want to hit up Disneyland, explore all of the insane beaches or drive into Hollywood to do some star sightings, you'll definitely need a car for all of this.
B. Shuttle. Super Shuttle and other companies are available to pick you up at the airport and drive you to the hotel for a low fee. This is a great option if you are only coming to So Cal for the wedding and don't really have plans of exploring. Also, Super Shuttle has a great option where you can reserve a van (capacity of 9 people), so if you are traveling with other wedding guests this is a great deal.
